Medicaid ABA therapy providers in Colorado whose sites say no waitlist

A few providers on Colorado's Medicaid list say on their own websites that they have no waitlist; this page quotes each one and dates it.

A waitlist line on a website is a statement, not a promise. It can be true for one city and not another, or for a 4-year-old and not a 14-year-old. So each card below quotes the exact words, links the page, and prints the day we read it.

Use it as a shortlist. Call each one and ask when an assessment could happen and when sessions could start. Those are two different dates.

Why waitlists happen in Colorado

There are not enough behavior technicians for the children who qualify. Providers told state lawmakers in November 2025 that proposed Medicaid rate cuts would make it worse. One provider, Rebecca Urbano Powell of Seven Dimensions Behavioral Health, put it this way to CBS Colorado: "Providers like me across the state are barely hanging on. All of this red tape means less care, fewer providers, and children waiting longer or never getting treatment at all." She is an outside voice, not part of this site, and her organization is on the state list too.

The state's rate for the main ABA code, 97153, was $17.20 per 15 minutes on the July 2026 fee schedule, down from $18.17 a year earlier. That is the background to every waitlist conversation you will have.

Three questions that get past the word waitlist

When could you assess my child. When could regular sessions start after the prior authorization is approved. What would make that date move.

Why in-home ABA often starts sooner than a center

A center seat needs a room, a schedule and a team. A home slot needs one registered behavior technician with a car and a free block of hours. Across Colorado that's why home-based providers, which make up most of the state list, often quote shorter waits than centers, and why a morning slot opens before an after-school one. If your child is under 3, early intervention through the state line at 833-733-3734 runs alongside and has its own timeline.

How to start ABA therapy in Colorado with Health First Colorado

Call a provider from the cards above. It assesses your child, writes the treatment plan and files the prior authorization request with Colorado Medicaid; an approved request covers up to six months of therapy sessions. You don't file anything, and no autism diagnosis is required when the therapy is medically necessary. The three steps, with who to call.

Pick your city

Every city page has the full state list for that place and the local facts: Denver, Colorado Springs, Aurora, Fort Collins, Lakewood, Boulder, Pueblo, Greeley, Longmont, Thornton.

Questions parents ask

Does no waitlist mean we start this week?

No. It usually means the provider can schedule the assessment without a wait. Sessions start after the prior authorization request is approved by the state's review vendor, which the provider files after the assessment.

How long does the prior authorization take?

The state's page does not print a number of days. It does say that if the review vendor asks the provider for documents and does not get them within four business days, the request is denied for lack of information. Answer your provider's calls quickly during that window.

How this list is made. Every provider here is on Colorado's own list of Health First Colorado behavioral therapy providers. We read that list and each provider's website on the date printed on the page and quote what they say. The featured provider is placed by arrangement and is held to the same facts as every other row. How we list providers.

Being on the state list means a provider is enrolled. It does not mean it has an opening. Photos are illustrations, not any provider's staff or families. This is not medical advice.
