Spanish-speaking ABA therapy in Colorado for children with autism, with Health First Colorado

Several providers on Colorado's Medicaid list state on their websites that they work with families in Spanish; this page lists them with the line quoted.

Parent coaching is half of ABA. If the coaching happens in a language you are not comfortable in, the plan stays at the provider's house instead of yours. So we only list a provider here when its own site says it works in Spanish, and we quote it.

Health First Colorado itself has Spanish-language member services. The Member Contact Center is 1-800-221-3943.

Ask about the technician, not only the intake

Many providers have a bilingual intake person and English-only technicians. Ask who will be in your home each week and what language the parent sessions run in. Ask whether the written plan comes in Spanish.

ABA therapy services in Spanish across Colorado: Denver, Colorado Springs, Pueblo and Greeley

Spanish-speaking families are spread across the state, and so are the providers that say they serve them: the cards above include home-based agencies in the Denver metro and the Front Range and at least one that names Colorado Springs and Pueblo. Greeley and Weld County have fewer; the early intervention agency there, Envision, states that its plans come in the family's preferred language.

If no provider in your city states Spanish, ask anyway. Many have a bilingual registered behavior technician or clinician they don't mention online, and a provider that covers the whole state may staff your town.

What a Spanish-language therapy plan should include

The same things as any good applied behavior analysis plan, in your language: goals in plain words for daily routines and daily living skills, a named BCBA who supervises, a technician who can coach you in Spanish during the session, and parent training that runs in Spanish too. Ask for the written plan in Spanish and for the state's prior authorization letters to be explained to you in Spanish by the provider; the member line at 1-800-221-3943 can help with the plan side.

How to start ABA therapy in Colorado with Health First Colorado

Call a provider from the cards above. It assesses your child, writes the treatment plan and files the prior authorization request with Colorado Medicaid; an approved request covers up to six months of therapy sessions. You don't file anything, and no autism diagnosis is required when the therapy is medically necessary. The three steps, with who to call.

Pick your city

Every city page has the full state list for that place and the local facts: Denver, Colorado Springs, Aurora, Fort Collins, Lakewood, Boulder, Pueblo, Greeley, Longmont, Thornton.

Questions parents ask

Can I get the prior authorization letters in Spanish?

Ask the provider and the Member Contact Center. The state's benefit page is in English; the member line at 1-800-221-3943 handles language access questions.

How this list is made. Every provider here is on Colorado's own list of Health First Colorado behavioral therapy providers. We read that list and each provider's website on the date printed on the page and quote what they say. The featured provider is placed by arrangement and is held to the same facts as every other row. How we list providers.

Being on the state list means a provider is enrolled. It does not mean it has an opening. Photos are illustrations, not any provider's staff or families. This is not medical advice.
